Pine Creek Railroad in Z Scale

A Closer Look at the Original Pine Creek Railroad

A surprising amount of railroading was crammed into the 2.5-acre plot by the end of Pine Creek's stay on Route 9. What began with only a Baldwin 0-4-0T, a sand dumper car and some scavenged rail became a bustling empire boasting upwards of a half-dozen or more locomotives and a steady stream of scrounged, donated or homemade rolling stock. In 1996 one of the original volunteers, Andrew Morrison, made a sketch of the property, and his one simple drawing speaks volumes about the history of Pine Creek's first dozen years. It silently tells of the unbridled enthusiasm of the founders and volunteers, and the constant growth the museum enjoyed. And while it may on the surface appear to have been a simple amusement park for the family, it was imbued with a genuine mission of preserving and presenting a slice of railroading history.
