James River Branch: JRB Plan for Rokuhan

JRB Using Rokuhan Track

Given that all of the visible track on the James River Branch is handlaid with "eyeballed" curves, adapting the track plan for sectional track a bit of a challenge. However, owing to the wide array of curve radii available from Rokuhan, it's not impossible. I've rendered two versions: one remains faithful to the size and geometry of the original plan as much as practical; note, however, that it requires cutting track sections. The second has no cut track, but is slightly larger as a result.

The "faithful" version is the original's 15 by 36 inches, and looks like this:

The track required is as follows:
24 X R005 145mm radius, 45 degree curve (6 packs)
1 X R006 right switch
4 X R008 55mm straight (2 packs)
3 X R009 220mm straight (1 pack)
3 X R012 490mm radius 13 degree curve (2 packs)
4 X R015 270mm radius 30 degree curve (1 pack)

Now comes the cutting: four of the 55mm straight sections need to be cut down to 25mm (no, you can't just cut them in half—sorry). Then, two 220mm straights need to be cut down to 200mm. Finally, a 220mm piece is reduced to ~85mm for the siding—this one can be simply lopped off, with no regard for the joiners on one end.

Note that Rokuhan may eventually be offering a 25mm straight section; if and when this comes to pass, it will mean four less pieces to cut.

The "no cut track" version grows to 17 by 39 inches, and looks like this:

2 X R009 220mm straight (1 pack)

Note that, for either plan, if you want to omit the switch and siding, you can replace it with an R012 curve section—you'll have a spare, since they come in pairs. For the latter plan, it also means you won't need the pack of R001.
