South Richmond

For those who want to cram a substantial amount of industrial switching into a compact space, this traditional racetrack plan does the job. There are no grades and no track to cut.

Notes on operation: You can run two trains simultaneously on this layout, although if you need to use the mainline crossovers as a runaround, it becomes tricky since one train would need to be parked. In addition to the four feeders shown in the plan, two pairs of insulators are needed at each of the two crossovers for two-train operation; however, using DCC would do away with the need for insulators and multiple feeders.
