No modeling lately, sorry to say. Between a massive reorg at work and getting ready for the holidays, I haven't had a chance to do much except answer email. Hope to have some big news for the new year, so stop back in 2011. Have a great holiday, everyone!

In order to lend beginners—and even veterans—a helping hand, I've added three tutorials to the track plans collection: working with switches, cutting sectional track, and how to bury those bulky switch machines. I hope modelers find these resources useful.

Where have I been? With a desperate need to decompress from so much intense modeling these past few months, I've been taking a break and exploring some related projects. One of the most frequently-asked questions from beginners about modeling in Z scale has to do with track planning. Many people have asked to see track plans designed using only Micro-Trains Micro-Track. The big problem, however, is the track line is presently very limited, and designing interesting and creative plans can be a royal challenge. Increasingly I've been involved as an N scale track plan design "assistant" for members of the Railwire; consequently, my planning activity has spilled over into Z scale, and I've now begun building a collection of compact plans. Please have a look and tell me what you think!
