3,600 Miles Later...

The layout is back home after a trip to Denver for the National Z Scale Convention earlier this month. And it looks exactly the way it did when it left:

Why is this non-event worth the bandwidth? Because its sister layout, the James River Branch, didn't fare so well on the return trip. In fact... it's been declared a total loss. There was so much damage I would not know where to begin, and frankly spending months and hundreds of dollars making repairs is not my idea of modeling.

So we bid farewell to the JRB. And with the G&D done, perhaps this disaster will spawn something totally new and exiting. We shall see! Meanwhile, I have the unpleasant duty of documenting the destruction for a claim with UPS, not that I hold much hope of getting the $10,000 of insurance I put on it.
