2.6. Switch Tower
The switch tower has seen a great many changes since the start of the project—more, in fact, than any other structure on the layout. Here's a summary of what I'd considered for this spot:

I'd actually built and installed the last three kits. I decided quite some time ago that the earlier version of Kibri 7424 was just right, but after I rebooted the project in early February 2021, I repurposed it as the control cabin for the rolling lift bridge. Then, after building and installing Faller 222161, I found that it just didn't fit aesthetically, and resorted back to second-pick Arnold Rapido 0677. I'd finished and installed it, but after living with it about a week, I tore it back out and returned to my preferred tower, the little Kibri 7424. But what of the lift bridge control cabin? I plopped the Arnold tower in the space next to the bridge and realized that, despite being much too large for the job, it was the perfect look. The Kibri tower was finally installed (for good) on 27 February.
