Detail: Signals

Bachmann 7003 — Plan A

Originally I was going to use the vintage Bachmann signals...

NJ International 2003 — Plan B

Then I came across a bunch of NJI signals I'd rescued from the White River & Northern IV. They weren't doing any good sitting in a drawer, so I decided to use them instead.

Chinese Cheapies — Plan C

After installing the NJI signals on the layout, I decided they looked "too good" amongst all of the period kits and models, so I switched to cheap Chinese ones, which look the part of an early product but utilizing modern LEDs.

I received the new streetlights on 17 March 2021, and I confess they look a bit worse than expected. The heads are ridiculously bulky, but that's okay—they're big enough to imagine them containing grain of wheat bulbs. I installed them the next day.

Control

The four signals are manually controlled with rotary switches, located toward the lower right corner of the panel.
