2.3. Enginehouse
The enginehouse was finished on 21 April 2019. As the layout progresses, the area will get more detailed and filled with weeds.
On 9 March 2021, I added some interior detailing—just enough that can be glimpsed through the open doors.
Then, unhappy with the color of the exterior walls, on 10 March I applied mortar stain to the entire kit. And while I was at it, I did another one of those "always wanted to" things, in this case, the vines on the back of the enginehouse.
Pola B210 — A DKS Retro Fave
Pola's stone enginehouse is a remarkably faithful model of the real one in Europe. For decades I've kept bunches of this venerable old kit on hand for kitbashing projects—for example, see how I used it with the Pola machine factory for the White River & Northern IV, and as an abandoned building on the Penn Central Stockton Branch. An opportunity to build it in its original form for the first time was actually exciting.
