5. Rolling Stock

Shay

Regrettably, the Shay won't run on Rail Craft Code 40 flex without having its flanges turned down, and I'm not inclined to do or pay for that, so it will be on static display, as seen above. If I'm feeling ambitious, I'll re-letter it.

SW1

The Arnold SW1 runs on Code 40 flex as-is, so it will be the railroad's workhorse. It's decorated for the Penn Central, but being all black, it'll be easy enough to re-letter for the Boston and Maine per this reference photo:

Coaches

Three Athearn Great Northern Overton coaches constitute the revenue equipment for the Mountain Vista Railroad. I also have a GN combine and baggage car, but they'll be sidelined because there's room only for three cars on the Bearcamp Springs runaround. I'll re-letter the cars, but I won't repaint them.

Tank Car

I have a Fine N Scale tank car kit I'd built for the White River & Northern IV as a derelict. It will get parked on the disused siding at Bearcamp Springs, barely visible through the trees—something along these lines (as seen in New Hampshire):

Bobber Caboose

#201 is a holdover from the White River & Northern IV; indeed, it's still lettered for the WR&N, and I intend to leave it that way to give the railroad a little history. It'll be sitting on display in the yard behind the brewery.

Other

I have a small assortment of various freight cars plus a steam loco I can put on display as the mood strikes. One day I'd love to reproduce this consist on the B&M mainline for photographic purposes:

Couplers, Trucks & Wheels

Where practical, all (operational) rolling stock has body-mounted Z/Nn3 MT couplers, and BLMA trucks/wheels.
