3.22 Augustine Station √

Like a number of other structures on this layout, this station was originally built for the Greystone, which was stylistically a holdover from the White River & Northern I. The structure began life as Laura Station from Branchline Laser-Arts, but as small as it was, it was still too big for the Greystone, so I started chopping it down. Unsatisfied with the proportions of my first hatchet-job, I used the leftover bits of Micro Scale Models' Whitney Glass Factory kit for new walls, which accommodated Grandt Line windows and doors. The only remaining bit of the original Laser Arts kit is the bay window!

With the addition of the platform and roof, the station was at last finished—more than three years after starting it.

One particularly significant addition to the station was a pair of working train order signals.

East Andover (below) became my target reference for the New Hampshire version of the station. Note in particular the virtual lack of eaves—quite common in New England.

Named For...

S. Augustine was a sweetheart. She committed suicide a few years ago, which devastated me. There is no real town named Augustine in New Hampshire, so I can pretty much do whatever I want in this fantasy town, and not be wrong.
