3.6. Boring Corner Building

This building came about in part owing to the historic image below. Angled corner buildings were among the more rare and interesting architectural designs to be found in Jersey City. The awnings and many of the signs in this turn-of-the-century image would likely be gone by the 30s or 40s, making the corner building as boring as just about everything else in this town.

After numerous false starts, I finally settled on DPM's Corner Apothecary—two, actually. A considerable amount of cutting and fitting was required to achieve the required wall angles and, in particular, the trim pieces above the first story (requiring a strip stock filler). The cornice was practically a project of its own.
