6. Details
Probably the most satisfying aspect of modeling for me is detailing. And the small size of the James River Branch layout allowed me to give it a very high level of detail. However, there were almost no commercial detail products for Z Scale, so the majority of the details had to be scratchbuilt. I was so obsessive about detailing that I named and wrote biographies for all of the model people on the layout!
