4.2. Rockwork

All of the rockwork on the G&D was made using my favorite rock product, Cripplebush Valley rubber rocks. They're expensive, but not prohibitively so for a small layout such as this. They look exceptional, and afford tremendous control over the final form.

Using a scissors and cyanoacrylate (super glue), I'll cut and paste pieces of material together to achieve the desired shape. The surface can be modified with an abrasive wheel in a Dremel tool as needed to blend the edges together seamlessly.

After assembling the various shapes, I spray them with ordinary primer paint, followed by highlights of other colors, plus powdered chalks for weathering. I could not have been more pleased with the finished results, which hold up well under the closest scrutiny.
