Lighting Effects: Fireflies
Way back in the 1980s, when I was building the White River & Northern II, I made a field full of flickering fireflies, and the effect was almost magical. I'll use the same technique—lights on a slowly rotating drum illuminating fiber optics—for the new version, and I'll likely have many more fireflies than I did on the old layout. The same mechanism, by the way, also drove the campfire.
