Flemington Homes: Wilks' Homestead

A sign in this general area declares it to be a historic district, with homesteads settled in the 1700s. But I'll be darned if I can find any home anywhere in the vicinity that's even 19th Century. In real life, this spot on the layout is occupied by a rather strange-looking conglomeration that appears possibly commercial. So, I decided to exercise modeler's license and include an appropriately old home.
The Model
I'm thinking of grafting two Sylvan Scale Models #N-2024 Wilks' Homestead kits to make one larger home.
As an alternative, the Yard Office (#609) from American Model Builders looks remarkably like an early colonial home. The stairs to the second floor could pass for a relatively recent renovation that split the home into two apartments.
