Ringoes Lumber Company

Reference

Ringoes Lumber Company existed beside the Ringoes yard for many years. It closed sometime before my modeling era; a 1972 color negative (below) shows it's still standing, albeit abandoned. Be that as it may, I'm willing to tinker with time a little bit to include it, particularly since I have a "thing" for lumber yards, and being abandoned makes it even more interesting. In its early years, there was supposedly a coal dock on the site as well, although I've yet to find it in any photograph (the BR&W Office has the remnants of a weigh scale). Determining what it looked like is the biggest challenge of all; only tiny slices of it are visible in the backgrounds of images from many diverse sources.

This feed store/milk dock was moved closer to the tracks and turned into a storage shed very early in the BR&W's history, which is visible in the image above and another that follows. The slice of the lumber yard has a ladder in a classic pose.

The Model

I've yet to decide if I'll be modeling this.
