Strand Theatre

Reference

Opened in 1915 at 12 Coryell Street, the Strand Theatre was enlarged in 1925 to a 500+ seat capacity. Although when exactly it closed is unknown, it was still listed in the 1951 edition of Film Daily Yearbook, and some anecdotal accounts suggest it was open as late as 1965. It was also said to have been gutted by a fire, which may have led to its (premature) closing. Today it serves as a plumbing supply storehouse for Finkles Hardware, although there is talk it may reopen as an artists' studio sometime in the 2020s.

The Model

I'm seriously twisting history and modeling the theater as still operating, mostly as an excuse to create a working marquee, but also because I didn't have the room to include the theater in Flemington. Strand theaters are still around today, so it wouldn't be a huge stretch that this one was still going in the early 1980s. This will obviously have to be scratchbuilt.
