In a spooky parallel to John Allen's original layout, the industries along the siding changed during construction. At first I was going to have a large wooden building and a small cattle pen. Then I enlarged the cattle pen and added a fuel oil dealer and a small freight station. Finally I settled on a factory building, oil dealer and large cattle pen.
Compare this with the progression of changes on John Allen's layout. The specifics of each stage were different, but the process had strong parallels. I named the industry on my layout after the one on his: Central Valley Model Works.
