Firehouse Doors
This is an old project that dates from the early 1990s. I'd built it for the White River & Northern III, but I never installed it the WR&N IV owing to lack of space; so I donated to Rick Spano. The mechanism is a compact screw drive with limit switches. To add visual interest, the two doors do not open simultaneously; instead, one lags behind the other. This was accomplished by mounting a pin on one door that engages a pin on the other; the pins are separated a little to stagger the action.
