Carousel

This is likely one of the simplest animations ever, along the lines of a mill water wheel. Two ingredients: a low-RPM motor, and a carousel. The latter involves most of the work, since you'll probably have to roll your own. I made mine out of brass, starting with an old gear. I ground off the gear teeth, and fashioned the rest from tubing and wire, using this image for reference:

I mounted it directly to the shaft of the geared motor:

The carousel appears on the Saturday at the Park diorama.
