To-Do List: French Drain
The French drain was not part of the original To-Do List, but it became necessary after the garage was flooded several times during heavy downpours. Begun 13 June 2019, it runs along the side of the garage to capture rainwater that flows from the nearby hill down toward the driveway, and sends it down the gutter drain on the northwest side of the house.
Built entirely by my volunteer helpers, it was completed on 24 October 2019, and it works perfectly—the ground around the garage side door remains bone dry. As an aside, all of the gravel was recycled from a pile of mud left over from the foundation work completed three and a half years ago.
