To-Do List: Energize HouseComplications continued up until the very end. In order to install the meter and energize the house, the electric service requires what's called a Cut Card (short for cut-in card), which means the Township is happy with everything and JCP&L can throw the switch. Ordinarily, this is issued immediately after the Township inspection of the meter pan. But a few days after the inspection, nothing was happening. So, I paid the Township a visit. Turns out the Zoning Officer never received the electrical inspector's approval. Although the Township was kind enough to fix this while I sat waiting in their office, it was still galling to think that nothing would have happened had I not taken matters into my own hands. Fortunately, JCP&L responded to the Cut Card submission within a couple of days, and it all came to an end—at long, long last—on Monday, 29 October 2018, with the installation of the meter. First Light came 8 November 2018. Return | To-Do ListCopyright © 2017-2022 by David K. Smith. All Rights Reserved.
