Birds of the Sanctuary: Downy Woodpecker

My property is home to many different woodpecker species. Downy Woodpeckers are virtually identical to Hairy Woodpeckers except in size; these little guys are about the size of sparrows. They're most attracted to suet and peanuts.

The only difference between genders is a patch of red on the back of the male's head.
