Grump Central Archive: Week of 25 March 2018

Saturday, 31 March 2018

It's another weekend of volunteer work, which is good: it's a distraction so I won't have a chance to think about what I've just gone through this week.

Amazing what a few threatening emails can do. The buyer's attorney has stated in writing that the tax situation will be corrected the first week of April. Although I'm breathing a little easier, I'll be much more relieved when I see a cancelled check. What a week—I feel as though I've aged ten years.

Today's problem: a certified letter I received yesterday from a law firm indicates that I have a five-digit tax problem—one that was supposed to have been resolved last year by the property buyers—that could lead to a tax sale foreclosure. I'm obviously ill-equipped to resolve this. Translation: I'm up Effluent Creek without a paddle.

Today's problem is my web host, UplinkEarth. They're having issues, so don't be surprised if some of my pages are slow to load, or random images are missing. Sheesh, if it's not one thing, it's another.

There's been some progress with the lawyers getting the latest extension in writing; I'm also working on getting language added to refuse any further extensions, but I've little hope this would be acceptable. Likewise the weather is a mixed bag: last night may have been the last we'll see of sub-freezing lows (hooray!), but forecasts call for a week of rain starting this evening.

The weekend was exhausting, but in a good way. Somewhat recharged, I'm a little better prepared for another week of lawyer-nagging. It's almost April, and nothing substantive has been accomplished since November 2017.

Yesterday was a really good day—something I sorely needed. I'm hoping today will be the same.
