Grump Central Archive: Week of 23 September 2018

Saturday, 29 September 2018

Three things that were supposed to happen by the end of the week did not happen. 0 for 3. Pretty depressing. Consequently, installation of the electric line conduit will not take place on Monday, as originally planned. Naturally this sort of event crops up on a Friday afternoon, leaving me hanging for the weekend. If I had a nickel for every time this has happened to me, I'd be a wealthy man indeed.

More rain. More delays. More damage.

Thursday, 27 September 2018

Nature is forcing my hand: the trailer—my cats' home at present—has sprung a leak in the roof, and it's no longer a viable shelter. Between that and the rotting roof on the house, things simply cannot get done fast enough.

This rain is absurd. It's brought me to a standstill, and my poor house is suffering.

All of this miserable wet weather has pushed electric service installation into next month. Sheesh, if it's not one thing, it's another.

Monday, 24 September 2018

A predicted week of rain began yesterday morning; I plan to spend a good portion of this unproductive period searching online for more economical building supplies and appliances. Also, I had to take a sick kitty to the vets. Nothing serious, thankfully; seems she's developed a skin allergy of some sort. Hard to believe my "kittens" are now almost four years old—it feels as though I'd watched them being born just days ago.

Mixed bag yesterday. On the plus side, I met my roofing guy, and the roof might end up cheaper than I'd expected. It also helps that he's a really nice fellow who loves the house and the property. On the minus side, I'm all set to do the electric service line trenching, and it's predicted to rain all week.
