Grump Central Archive: Week of 22 March 2020

Saturday, 28 March 2020

It's a shame human children aren't as well-behaved as fox pups. Mom can saunter off to fetch some lunch, and leave her kids on their own; they'll hang around the den and play, never wandering off any further than about ten feet. Of course, with between four and six hawks almost constantly circling overhead, they'd better stick close to home!

Fox-watching was back in full swing yesterday, although the pups are getting harder to photograph—they're constantly moving. Mom, however, always has her eye on me... always. Meanwhile, the forecast is gloomy, with rain predicted for the next 3-4 days, and regrettably that'll likely keep the pups "indoors."

Strange. Did not see the fox family all day yesterday.

Oh, happy day! The house has now become Fox Pup Watching Central, as the pair living under the stump at the bottom of the ravine have been very busy indeed: above you can see five of their six pups! Mom works overtime keeping all of her kids fed and safe, and she looks a little bedraggled.

Rained all day yesterday. I kind of feel like the view—grey and lifeless.

Monday, 23 March 2020

I know it's only been a couple of days, but I can't say I'm feeling any better. Light-headed at times; briefly got the shakes, like I'd had four cups of coffee. Otherwise, the same as before. I'll just have to be patient.

Right off the bat this new med sure takes me for a ride—at times I'm so lightheaded it's all I can do to stand up. I'm assuming there will be a period of "adjustment," so I'm not throwing in the towel just yet. Oh, did I mention this stuff is $10 per pill, and I take two per day? At that price it had better make me live forever...
