Another unexpectedly quiet day. I'm beginning to think no one likes me. So I just fiddle-farted around tying up some loose ends. I will say it's nice being able to do woodworking in a proper (albeit unfinished) workshop. Random nonsense: I discovered a boot print in the concrete floor of the kitchen that I'd not noticed before. Weather-wise, we're headed for the deep freeze again by the middle of next week...

Yesterday didn't look anything like what I'd imagined: no contractors showed up, so my helper and I just piddled around inside all day while it poured rain. So now I'm clueless what might happen today. As a curious aside, I have a random Pella sales rep trying to sell me windows—as if I'd be interested, since all of my windows are in already, and especially after they botched my order. And he's the second one in as many months to contact me. Obviously communication is not their strong suit...

In spite of not having a plan yesterday, my helper and I accomplished quite a bit. Today should be crazy-busy: my helper returns, the HVAC crew may show up, and the sheetrock might start going on—all while it pours rain.

As per usual, my helper will be showing up today. My problem is I haven't a clue what he should do. I'll come up with something, I'm sure—there's always stuff to do—but I don't have a plan at the moment...

I don't like cold. And the last 36 hours have been freaking cold. Fortunately it's not supposed to last, returning to the 40s by mid-week. I'm very pleased by the fact that the house is holding heat very well—it's never dropped below 55°. In other news, I've addressed yesterday's written note: the countertop in question is now leveled.

The rain ended soon enough that the Big Chill didn't cause major havoc—in fact it was sunny in the afternoon. Meanwhile, I've heard from my sheetrock contractor, and I've arranged to have him do all of the ceilings (my helper and I will do the walls). So, the first rock will be going up sometime very soon. I'm psyched, especially since this will allow me to install a lot of lighting. Meanwhile, I've got a little corrective work to be done in the kitchen...

Originally predicted to be a wintry mix bringing a few inches of snow, the weekend's big storm is now just dumping heavy rain. But the post-storm chill-out is still on—it's supposed to drop 45 degrees in 12 hours. I'm glad I don't have to go anywhere, as the roads are likely to be skating rinks.
