Sometimes the ultra-high humidity of summer has its advantages—if only for aesthetics...

I miss Katie. I'd like to think Bobbie does, too.

Owing to the lockdown, I can't get a haircut, so I went shopping online for hair clippers. Who knew there are nearly 150 different brands (not models)? Now, I didn't do an exhaustive search, so there may be even more. Granted, a fair number of generic units may bear various brand names—based on product images I've seen, I'd guess maybe 25%—but that still leaves an awful lot of manufacturers grinding them out. Talk about market saturation! Honestly, how many do we really need?

Another day, another caricature. Now I'm doing friends, so there's no point in posting them since no one but that small circle of friends would recognize them. So, it's back to old pictures of the house. A year ago today I built my office desk, the very same one at which I'm sitting now.

Another miserably hot day yesterday, with a heat index of over 100°. I just hid inside and did more caricatures—this time I picked on myself. Meanwhile, highs in the 90s are predicted for the entire week ahead.

Another week has blown past, and I scarcely noticed. Now that I've checked a calendar (something I rarely do anymore), I wonder at how the time races on now. I look at house pictures and realize I've done nothing substantial for weeks—not that it's the slightest bit important. Indeed, I've done nothing substantial on anything, house or otherwise. I just feel so... inert. Incidentally, as predicted, the heat index hit 100° yesterday afternoon. I didn't even bother going to the store.

Sunday, 19 July 2020

Time to hunker down: an intense heat wave is on the way. Starting Monday and lasting most of the week, the heat index will be well over 100°. I'll be hitting the supermarket today to stock up on liquid refreshments.
