In the face of a return to radio silence, with no response to threats, pleas or even requests made to other professionals for advice, I'm at a loss as to what I can possibly do that doesn't carry the risk of making matters worse. Yet doing nothing and staying the course isn't working, either. So, this is what purgatory is like...

After the sun came out yesterday afternoon, the temperature crept up over 77, and when the cabin hit 82 inside, I had to turn on the AC—only to discover that it's dead, and now I have to replace it. Who knew this could happen in February? Meanwhile, the forecasts call for a week of rain starting this afternoon, which is not the best news for my deteriorating house.

Wow—dinner last night was extraordinary. For a few hours, I didn't have a single problem. Now it's back to reality, with the big question of how to deal with an impossible situation. And it's quite strange being outside at 8 AM in a T-shirt during February...

Friends from Pittsburg are visiting their relatives in the area today, and I've been invited to join them for dinner. Wow, a chance for me to feel like a real human being for a little while. And what perfect timing with the unseasonably warm weather—headed for 70 today.

Another long weekend, another long stretch of waiting. But now the predicted warmer weather has been moved up to tomorrow, with Wednesday's high increased to 76—something to look forward to.

We got more ice than snow last night, and the mountain laurels were practically crushed by it. But the mess won't be sticking around, since the high predicted for today is the mid-40s. The forecast still calls for a high of 73 on Wednesday, so I guess I'd better break out my T-shirts...
