Back to being wet. Waiting for all of the colors in the woods to run.

Friday, 22 June 2018

Well, I did it again: I started another layout. Actually, it replaces the last one I was working on, which I had to abandon. I'm desperate for some sort of distraction from this nerve-wracking waiting game.

I wish I could bring myself to start planning my return to work on the house, but I've done this a number of times before based on hopeful-sounding comments from the buyer, only to be disappointed every time. I can't take any of this talk of closing seriously, no matter how convincing it may seem, because I couldn't tolerate being disappointed yet again.

Nothing to add to yesterday's post. Still hot. And it's supposed to pour tonight. As you can tell, I'm having fun photoshopping my daily images—it's a nice distraction.

Tuesday, 19 June 2018

It's hot. And it rained during the night, so now it's like a sauna outside. Not much to do but sit in the cabin and read, write or just watch stuff on video. But mostly I spend my time questioning my sanity.

It's back to the waiting game. I keep receiving assurances that closing will take place in "30 days," but they've been saying "30 days" for the last two weeks; when does the 30-day period start? Six months from now?

While everyone else bustles about desperately seeking something to dutifully dole out to their dads, much of which will ultimately join the growing glut of forgotten flotsam in their engorged garages, and madly procuring provisions for their annual obligatory backyard beer and burger binges, where otherwise estranged familial folk grimace and greet each other through gritted teeth, I remain forever free of the stress induced by all of this contrived commercialism, and revel in the company of my feline family, who remain blissfully ignorant of so many silly human customs. Thanks to my purring progeny, every day is Father's Day, for every day I'm greeted with no end of loving licks and grateful snuggles (humans could learn a thing or two from their pets, like not waiting for holidays to express one's love and appreciation). Besides, I already have more than my fair share of other stress inducers, thank you very much.
