Grump Central Archive: Week of 17 February 2019

Can't seem to get a break: now that I'm ready to start installing gutters, we're getting hit with rain practically every other day. This weekend is supposed to be completely rained out. Do the weather gods have something against me?

Thanks to my two helpers, the remote public storage unit is empty and off the books. I'm sleeping more soundly now as a result—and I'm eternally grateful to the two young men who volunteered their time just to help some old fart. Weather-wise, today's high of 53° is supposed to be bested by Sunday's predicted high of 63°. Strange times indeed.

The storage container is gone! After five years of staring at the big unsightly white box, it was cause to celebrate. And the winter storm was pretty much a nothing-burger, as we got less an an inch of slush that should be gone later today as the temperature hits the 50s. I also have two helpers today who are going to empty the remote public storage unit, so it will be a great day indeed.

Today is supposed to bring up to four inches of white crap, followed by up to an inch of sleet. Not looking forward to this one bit. In other news, the storage container is supposed to be picked up today—should be interesting to see how they make out with the weather...

Very rarely do days play out as one envisions them. Case in point, Monday was derailed by a heat pump failure. Thankfully the installer was able to make repairs right away. I just hope this isn't a foretaste of things to come, as I have no desire—much less ability—to replace the system. Also, the weather was predicted to be nice, but instead was quite unpleasant, so the day was more or less a nothing-burger.

Sunday was a vacation day for my brain. I was in desperate need of some non-productive time, although I did do a few little odds and ends. Today it's supposed to turn sunny and hit the mid-40s, which is perfect as I plan to start the gutters.

With the plan to empty the public storage unit to begin in just a few days, I've been concentrating on getting the studio organized enough to deal with the influx of more stuff than the room already contains. I well and truly have waaay too much crap! 95% of it will be sold; I'm only keeping the tools and supplies needed to re-start my business.
