Grump Central Archive: Week of 15 April 2018

Saturday, 21 April 2018

Woke up to a 32-degree dawn. Had to don my heavy jacket to fill the birdfeeders. And May is only ten days away. I can't allow the cold to be an excuse to do nothing today. But the temptation to just sit and fiddle-fart on the computer is powerful. Depression is such a potent demotivator.

Although temperatures are supposed to remain unseasonably cool for the next several days (there's another freeze warning for tomorrow night), there's a potential for as much as a week of sorely-needed sunshine. I must become more active again—my health is bad, I'm physically in the worst shape I've ever been in, and most significantly, I'm deeply, dangerously depressed. If I don't do something about it, I'll simply get worse, and I may eventually reach a point of no return.

After a nice sunny day yesterday, we get to enjoy liquid sunshine today. Cold liquid sunshine.

Wednesday, 18 April 2018

The low last night was 34. Some areas reportedly hit freezing. I'm really, really tired of being cold.

Tuesday, 17 April 2018

Mercifully, yesterday's storm—which was powerful enough to rip insulation out from underneath my cabin—was over by mid-afternoon, and the sun even peeked out for a bit. The birds were very happy. But we're back to cold weather for the remainder of the week, with highs only in the 50s and lows close to freezing.

Saturday was such a nice day that it had me thinking about tinkering around the house a little. But Sunday was miserable, with wind and rain and raw, bitter cold, like an early November storm. Spent most of the night listening to chunks of rotted tree branch slamming down on the roof. And forecasts call for more of the same all day today and into tonight.

Sunday, 15 April 2018

From the freezer to the fryer to the freezer again: after hitting a high of 88 yesterday, the high predicted for today is the low 40s, with a nighttime low in the mid-30s by Tuesday. Seriously?
