Show of hands: who here likes single-digit temperatures? Without a fire, the poor heat pump could only keep the house at 66°.

Yikes, Christmas is only a week away!

Thursday, 17 December 2020

The season's first snow event is under way. I actually don't mind the snow as much as the frigid temperatures: tomorrow night's low is expected to be in the teens.

Wednesday, 16 December 2020

The season's first snow event is proving to be a tough one to predict. Now the forecast calls for a "wintry mix" starting late afternoon and continuing through the night, with an accumulation of 1-3 inches of crap. Far worse than the white stuff for me, however, is the arctic blast to follow, with highs in the 20s. I'll be burning a lot of firewood.

Tuesday, 15 December 2020

Life continues to be complicated, as evidenced by my late Grump Report, but it's not all bad. Mostly I'm bracing myself for the first winter storm of the season. Estimates of snowfall amounts range from a few inches to a foot or more, so there's no knowing what will actually happen; I predict it'll look the same as it did three years ago tomorrow, as seen above.

Monday, 14 December 2020

The storm predicted for Wednesday is shaping up to be a major snow event, with a possibility of up to a half-foot or more of the white crap possible. I am most definitely not looking forward to this.

Sunday, 13 December 2020

Another day running full-bore. I'm about tapped out. Meanwhile, snow is on the way mid-week. Oh, joy.
