Grump Central Archive: Week of 1 November 2020

Saturday, 7 November 2020

Just when I thought the soap opera has subsided, it got pushed into high gear again. Stress is a trigger for angina, and I've had a nearly continuous case of it for the last two weeks. And last night it has spiked again, much the same way Covid has recently.

Having the stress of the election piled on top of the soap opera with which I've been dealing over the last two-plus-weeks has not been doing my health any good. At least the personal trauma is over, although it cost me a friend. As for the election, I wonder if I'll live long enough to see that finally wrap.

Another friend down for the count. One of my very best friends—and father to a toddler and an infant—shares an office with someone who just tested positive. I'm running out of friends. Meanwhile, the nail biting continues over the election. Just saw an awesome bumper sticker: "Make lying illegal again."

As of this writing, a winner has not yet been declared. The suspense is killer.

Today should be very interesting.

A family of deer settled down for much of the day on Saturday in my ravine (two others were hidden in the trees to the right). It made me feel good that they were comfortable here. I've been listening to hunters in neighboring areas, and it sickens me; I have NO HUNTING signs posted every few feet along my property lines, and I wish I could also post signs the animals could read that say YOU ARE SAFE HERE.

The soap opera that erupted on 22 October is still ongoing, and I'm not sure how much more of it I can tolerate. I do what I can, but it never seems to be enough.
