Grump Central Archive: Week of 14 April 2019
Saturday, 20 April 2019. We're quickly approaching my favorite time of year here, that magical point when the leaves are almost but not quite all out. It will be interesting to compare May Day 2019 with prior May Days—this will be the first time I can enjoy the day from within a (semi-)habitable home.
Friday, 19 April 2019. Three years ago today, I'm headed down a short dead-end as I pause to re-evaluate how the middle level roof style—shed versus gable—would look. Today, I'm very glad I took the time to stop and think about what I was doing, because I believe a shed roof on the middle level, sandwiched between the other two levels which were both gables, would have looked dumb, so I had to dismantle and rebuild some of the framing. Then again, some people think my whole house looks dumb. All in the eye of the beholder.
Thursday, 18 April 2019. It's hard to believe the house has been idle (or very nearly so) for three years. Three freakin' years! It makes me more angry than sad. And I really, really need that anger to help fight my depression and break out of it. Soon. I can feel it starting to crack...
Wednesday, 17 April 2019. I've committed myself to getting the well hooked up the first week in May. I sure hope I'm ready. Strangely, the three-year anniversary of the well drilling is just a few days away...
Tuesday, 16 April 2019. Ah, spring is in full swing, and it warms my heart. It's not surprising the trees seem to be in a hurry—we had close to an inch of rain dumped on us in an hour and a half yesterday morning.
Monday, 15 April 2019. And so another week begins. I'm numb and at a loss for words.
Sunday, 14 April 2019. One of the things that keeps me going is seeing the first leaves of the year emerging. That's my favorite color, and that's why.
