Grump Central Logbook: Week of 1 April 2018
Saturday, 14 April. Went from having the heat on to having the AC on in the span of 24 hours. So strange. But I do think spring has at last arrived—with summer hot on its heels. Today I begin a Purge: selling off my obscenely large model train collection. It will both help with finances and save space. It does me no good to keep so much stuff.
Friday, 13 April. Even if I was superstitious, Friday the 13th wouldn't bother me—I can't imagine my luck being much worse than it already is. Anyway, the daytime high today is supposed to push 80, and for once that sounds appealing (hard to believe the low was 26 Monday night).
Thursday, 12 April. Tomorrow we're expecting a high of 77 as we flip from winter to summer practically overnight. I actually look forward to sweating a little.
Wednesday, 11 April. Car is back in the shop again—the second time in as many weeks. Pretty soon there won't me much left to replace except the engine and body. Fortunately the engine has been declared solid; the body, well, that's a different story...
Tuesday, 10 April. By the end of yesterday, the forecasts finally settled on rain. Which is just what we're enjoying right now. Fine by me; better than snow. Still, tomorrow's low is supposed to be 31 while the predicted high by the end of the week is 78...
Monday, 9 April. The ping-pong weather forecasts continue: first rain and snow, then just rain, then rain and snow, then just rain, and finally... as of this morning, rain and snow for tonight and through tomorrow. And, just to add to the strangeness, the high for Friday is supposed to be 72. As I write this, the temperature is 26...
Sunday, 8 April. Forecasters are playing ping-pong with their predictions: now the snow is back in for Monday night, although if it really does happen, it'll likely be a trivial amount. Still... snow in April?
