SYNOPSIS

On Laconia, Cara finds that the strange dogs have brought her brother back to life. However, he looks and acts strangely.

In the Ring Space, an MCRN strike force attempts to take control of Medina Station, but rail guns mounted on the Ring Station by the Free Navy wipes out all of the MCRN warships.

At Ceres, the Joint Fleet commanders come to an impasse regarding a response. Upset with Holden's preventing the destruction of the Pella, Amos leaves the Rocinante. Bobbie finds him on Ceres during a drinking binge, and convinces him to remain with the Roci crew. Drummer arrives at Ceres with the supplies she stole from Marco. Avasarala convinces Drummer to form an alliance to take out Marco.

On the Pella, Filip learns that Marco's own men planted the bombs on Ceres Station that killed many Belters.

ANALYSIS

"There is no prize for the best victim."

No surprises on Laconia. So, moving along, we dig into the penultimate episode of the series, which offers some of the best dialog of the season. Let's count the awesome scenes: Avasarala and Bobbie's confrontation over going soft ("I still think I'm one of the good guys!"); Holden and Avasarala discussing his apparent naiveite ("We cannot afford the luxury of worrying about the future until we end this war."); Naomi and Drummer's deeply touching argument about Avasarala's desire to form an alliance ("Fuck you, you self-righteous shit!"); Bobbie talking Amos into staying with the Roci crew ("War is the wrong place for good men."); and, of course, Avasarala's face-to-face with Drummer ("When the last shot is fired, when Marco is dead, will you remember us?").

I must add that Frankie Adams delivers some of her finest performances. Pay particular attention to her subtle expressions in her scene with Amos at the bar.

There's also another nice cameo, this time biologist Elvi Okoye, who gives Holden and crew some clues about the threat at the Ring Gates.

Best Scene: There are so many this time, it was tough to decide, but Avasarala's face-to-face with Drummer has an effective history-making quality, thanks to excellent cinematography, direction, writing, and of course performance. And, oh, that handshake at the end... BOOM.

Best Line: Yes, there's a surfeit of great lines, but when Monica asks Holden for an interview, I laughed out loud. "Never, ever, ever again."

SCORE: — Best of the Best
