SYNOPSIS

The explosion on the other side of Ilus poses multiple threats to the colonists. After Holden reveals this to the Belters, they agree to evacuate. As a consequence of the explosion, the Protomolecule suppresses nuclear reactions in the vicinity, disabling all of the ships in orbit. Unable to leave the planet, the Belters take shelter in a nearby Protomolecule structure.

On Mars, Bobbie becomes successful at her new job as a technology thief, in one case risking her life to complete a heist.

On Medina Station, Drummer comes under fire from the UNN for mishandling the Sojourner incident. Drummer and Ashford receive intelligence that Inaros is working with someone on Mars.

ANALYSIS

"We'll figure it out fast."

Things go from bad to worse—both for the episode and the characters in it—as the exploding island creates a 1-2-3 punch: first, an earthquake; second, a shock wave; and third, a continent-flooding tsunami. I'm not quite sure how the Belters could resist hanging Holden for bringing all of this shit down on them; they were certainly more tolerant than I would have been.

Best Scene: When the shock wave hits the encampment, Holden and Okoye are in her lab, and the impact is very effective.

Best Line: Bobbie and team meet with a new client. Bobbie extends her hand to introduce herself. "I'm Bobbie Draper." The response: "Yeah, I don't care."

Technobabble Alert: The technobabble threats are coming in fast and furious, and the only escape is to take refuge inside a giant technobabble structure. Makes sense to me. But just to make sure everyone shares the pain, the ships in orbit all break down as the Protomolecule throws a hissy-fit. Dang, deys all in deep doo-doo.

Hard Media "After Show": Steven Strait; Executive Producer Naren Shankar; Co-Executive Producer/Writer Ty Franck; Cara Gee (Camina Drummer); Frankie Adams (Bobbie Draper).
