Yes, it's the further adventures of Bob Dicker and crew. He's faced near death, been tortured at the hands of the Clobbernauts, and lost two cherished crewmember friends. He was desperate for a way to escape the physical and emotional pain, so he retired. But oftentimes one must face the pain, not run away from it, in order to bring closure. So, when he learns of a heretofore unknown relative of one of his lost crew, he is set to task to find the individual, for it is very likely they are not aware of their relative's passing. Might they possibly find a new ally? So, what is Dicker anyway? To be strictly accurate, it's a sequel/reverse spinoff. It follows Lightspeed Drifting, the main series, but it also follows Felini At Sea, which is a spinoff of Lightspeed, combining the two back into one. Does that make any sense? Truthfully, it doesn't really matter. Unlike nearly all of my prior projects, which have always been series that I eventually turned into movies, I decided this time to just go straight for the "big screen." It's the same amount of work; it just gets released all at once, instead of piecemeal. I estimate it will take 6-8 months to complete the film, so please be patient.
4/25/26. Scenes two and three are nearing completion. All of the art is (finally) done for them, the audio tracks are finished and locked, and I'm down to the (ugh) lip-syncing. There's more going on in these scenes than in some of my other complete series: example, one zoom shot that's all of thirteen and a half seconds long took two days to complete. Oh, and the closing credits are done. I needed something easy to do. Having said that, I had to produce a new music track for it from th ground up (recycling and editing proved unsatisfactory). 4/7/26. The final scenes of the film are scripted. I knew how I wanted to end it from the outset, so it was easy to write. Now I just have everything in between to figure out. Also, I have finished the character design for Emma, Felini's daughter. She is an albino.

It serves the dual purposes of a recap and better closure for Felini At Sea, and it includes the title sequence. I don't recall having ever invested so much effort in three and a half minutes of animation before. It is so visually complex that it takes fifteen minutes to render. 3/14/26. Dicker is currently in preproduction, specifically character design. Above are rough renderings of the three principals; they have a ways to go yet. Stop back once in a while for updates, as well as perhaps some sneak peeks. Here, I'll get things started with two teasers and a preproduction rendering of a new character, Feliciti (Felini's sister). INDEX | Copyright © 2025-2026 by David K. Smith. All Rights Reserved |
