Blog Archive: Week of 30 December 2018Saturday, 5 January 2019Gee, guess what? It's raining again! As if we needed more. But at least it isn't snow—last year at this time we had half a foot of it. Ugh. Friday, 4 January 2019After I wound down a day working on the house, as a little "mental health" exercise, I unpacked all of my kitchen goodies—dishes, glasses, flatware, cookware, gadgets—which has all been in storage for three or four years. Even though it was premature (I have nowhere to properly store it yet), it was fun reacquainting myself with the stuff I collected all those years ago, and will someday be using every day. Thursday, 3 January 2019With the platform bed now having a platform, I got a glimpse of the house as my home. Sometimes the littlest things can make the biggest difference. Wednesday, 2 January 2019The weather continues to be unseasonably warm, especially as compared to last year, when we were blanketed with white stuff and enduring single-digit temps. But I fear this won't last long. Will I be ready for the "real" winter to come? I honestly don't know. Tuesday, 1 January 2019Today will likely be very strange: first day of a new year, and it's supposed to pass 60 degrees. I should be somewhere else, but I can't risk wasting this sort of day not working on the house! Monday, 31 December 2018I know what I'm doing on New Year's Day: staining the siding. After a day of rain today, tomorrow is supposed to be sunny with a high of 62! Sunday, 30 December 2018Hard to believe 2018 is almost over. Good riddance! I can't say it was the worst year of my life, but it ranks up there in the top five. Above, I laid out the pebble tile I'm using in my shower to see what it might be like. It's hard to articulate, but it suddenly made things seem quite real. Older < Index > NewerGO HOME | Copyright © 1996-2024 by David K. Smith. All Rights Reserved. |
