The heat has at last broken; now it's raining, with liquid sunshine in the forecast for the next several days. Which is fine: I can still get things done in the rain.

The heat is just starting to break—a little, anyway—so I can maybe get back to being productive. I'm slowly chipping away at my loose ends list so I can be ready for the bigger stuff, but that all hinges on the Township.

This heat has been crippling. There are so many things I could be doing, but instead I'll spend most of my time hiding in the cabin—just walking to the house and back leaves me drenched and winded.

Yesterday I learned that I've been a bad boy: I failed to get all of the necessary permits in order to do the work I've done. And I'll need to have the blueprints re-rendered to reflect the changes I've made to the roof. This could add many weeks to the timeline, as well as add thousands in costs. But the Township, to their credit, is doing everything they can to work with me to keep things going, rather than simply order a halt to the project.

Wondering about the inspections that never materialized, I paid the Township a visit. Seems things happen when they happen, and not necessarily in the desired order, either. When asked if I'd had my water tested, I advised them that I'd need permanent electric service to run the well pump. "Oh, right. Good point." I'm not complaining, mind—they've cut me a lot of breaks—but it is getting just a tad tedious. Fortunately they're only three minutes away, as it looks like I'll be making regular visits to keep things moving.

Another heat wave is on the way, so I'm starting my days earlier to try and keep up the pace. The trouble is, the days are getting shorter as we head towards fall...

A run of nice weather is helping me ratchet up the progress a little at a time.
