Among my many hobbies is this oddball. In a bid to recapture a tiny facet of my youth that I actually enjoyed, I've spent the last few years tinkering with this little old thing. Besides, I still have a fair number of 45s, and this is one way I can finally listen them again. I'm doing a mechanical restoration only; electronically, it's modern, with a new cartridge, amp and speaker. Yesterday it made music for the first time—sounded better than expected, but there's still loads of work to do.
