Blog Archive: Week of 11 February 2018Saturday, 17 February 2018Just another weekend in paradise. The forecast calls for snow late this afternoon, and then a high of 73 on Wednesday! By contrast, the forecast for my life is quite uncertain, although it may be just as strangely dramatic. Friday, 16 February 2018It's raining again. Third time in a week, with more on the way. Meanwhile, it's back to radio silence. Threats only got me two emails from my lawyer to theirs, with no response. It's time to drop a bomb. Thursday, 15 February 2018The friend who was recently diagnosed with cancer and I are part of a "gang of four" who have been friends for many years; it would be impossible to tally how much time we've spent together accomplishing things or just hanging out. So, imagine how I felt when I learned that, in the span of just the last few days, one of the other friends suffered a heart attack, and the fourth lost his father. All of this bad news is nearly too much to bear. Wednesday, 14 February 2018The long range forecast calls for two more periods of rain in the next ten days—more damage for the main house. But it also calls for highs in the mid-60s. I can't wait! Tuesday, 13 February 2018Now I know how to get my lawyer's attention: tell him I'm looking for a new lawyer. I wasn't lying: I informed him that I'd fire him if he didn't resolve the situation immediately. Meanwhile, Sunday's wet high of 60 was followed by last night's dry low of 25. Seems the weather is a bit bipolar. Monday, 12 February 2018Late yesterday afternoon, a large dead branch dropped onto the cabin. Although it didn't cause any damage to the roof, it did trash a couple of mountain laurels, and littered the area with debris. Plus it scared the crap out of me. Sunday, 11 February 2018Started raining yesterday afternoon, and it's supposed to continue for two more days. I was already worried about my house—now my concern is growing exponentially.
