1981, The Ladd Company

It's surprising how a film with so much working against it holds up so well. With an obvious High Noon plot, it should be hokier than it is. With Sean Connery playing an outer-space lawman, it should be hammier than it is. And with 1981 effects, it should be more embarrassing-looking than it is. Taken for exactly what it is, however, it's still quite enjoyable. If only it didn't have exploding heads (based on a total fallacy back in the day about what presumably happens when people are exposed to a vacuum).
