The Imitation Game

2014, Black Bear Pictures et al

Kudos to the filmmakers for making a story about the life of the father of computing so enthralling. Benedict Cumberbatch stars as the troubled, sexually confused and wrongly convicted decryption expert who assembles one of the world's first computing devices to crack the Enigma code used by the Nazis in World War II. And if that sentence seems like a dense mass of information, it pales by comparison to The Imitation Game. Although Cumberbatch is a wonder to behold, he can sometimes go over the top, leaving one doubtful events might have ever played out that way in real life.
